Today is May 20th, reading Proverbs 20. This is from verse 4:
“The slacker does not plow during planting season; at harvest time he looks, and there is nothing.”
There is a confirmed planting season. This man though was too busy or too lazy or too distracted and did not plant.
There is a confirmed harvest season. Neighbors are gathering their crops and so the slacker ‘looks’ for his harvest as well. Of course, he finds nothing because he did not plant. But isn’t it interesting that he still looked? Maybe something will be there? I get the impression that he is likely disappointed with the result. Other people now have so much and yet he has nothing. It just does not seem fair!
May God give us grace today to work our land and do our part to the best of our ability.
