All of Scripture, the Proverbs and more, encourage us to be ‘slow to speak and quick to listen’. (James 1:19)

Zechariah, famous father of the one and only John the Baptist, was instead quick to speak and slow to listen. Oops!  His infamous line, “How can I know this?” changed his life.  Although a priest and a man of great faith, he chose to speak vs listen – and he suffered the consequences. It can happen to any of us.

What we can remember is this: “Even a fool is considered wise when he keeps silent, discerning when he seals his lips.”  Proverbs‬ ‭17:28
