Men and Their Marriage

Today is September 20 so one of the things I do is read Proverbs 20. Today, I circle back to verse 6 as it asks a striking question: “Many a man claims to have unfailing love, but a faithful man who can find?” Proverbs 20:6

I think about how tomorrow is Saturday and thousands of people will get married all across the nation and beyond. Thousands of new husbands will verbally claim out loud in the presence of God and their families and friends to have unfailing love for their new bride and to be faithful to them to the very end. What would it be like if they did exactly what they say they are going to do?

On a more personal note; what would your life be like if your grandfathers who claimed to love your grandmothers were faithful men and loved their wives to the very end?

What would your life be like right now if your father who claimed at one point to love and cherish your own mother actually continued to do that for his entire life? How would that impact you?

Here’s another one for the Christ-follower; think about this for a moment. What impact would your own local church have in your own local community if every man impacted by that local church both now and for the next fifty years; loved and cherished his own wife and was by the Grace of God a loving husband and faithful man to the very end.

How would a man doing what he says he is going to do, impact your life? The life of your family? The life and impact of your local church?

The wedding ceremony is a time when men declare their good intentions. It is up to us to encourage them and provide them counsel and a role model that will help them bridge the gap to good execution.

Think about what would it would be like!
