It’s June 12, let’s read the chapter of Proverbs that correlates to today’s date!
Proverbs encourages older men to mentor young men in the key areas of life – like relationships! Verse 4: ‘An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, but she who brings shame is like rottenness in his bones.’
A young man with the influence of culture and his own flesh may have a limited and skewed definition of excellence when it comes to women. This is where the value of a trusted mentor really kicks in. Excellence in verse 4 is “chayil” in the Hebrew, which when referring to women speaks of one with virtuous character. This is what will make a man truly proud of his wife – thus ‘the crown’.
What other wisdom can we glean from chapter 12 of Proverbs today?
