Roger Woods III is a visionary leader, author, and soul winner. He has a mantle of leadership to encourage, enrich, and empower individuals through preaching, teaching, and discipleship. As the former Chaplain at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, he has had the opportunity to present the gospel and mentor coaches, athletes and students. As the former Pastor of New Birth Knoxville, Chap sought to positively impact Knoxville and the surrounding area through being real, realistic, and relational through multiple avenues in the ministry and life. Chap also has a wealth of knowledge and experience working with young men and women through various vehicles including sports from the elementary age through the professional ranks. In addition to being a Pastor, he has served as Chaplain at UT-Chattanooga, been a coach in recreational leagues and on the high school level at Lithonia High, Green Pastures Christian School, and Silverdale Academy in Chattanooga. He has also served as Athletic Director at Green Pastures Christian Academy in Atlanta and as Assistant, Middle and High School Athletic Director for Silverdale Academy. He’s currently Pastor at Greater St. Mary Baptist Church and at Silverdale Baptist Academy serving as Admissions Liason and Director of Campus Life.
Along with the above accomplishments, Chap has also participated in other community initiatives: Co-Chairman of the Pillar of the Community Awards Committee; Big Brothers and Big Sisters; Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.; Board of Directors for the Intercollegiate Fine Arts Society, Inc.; Juvenile Advocate for Dekalb County with the Winning Circle Inc.; just to name a few. Not only does Chap have an awesome ability to reach and mentor people, but he is also an extraordinary role model. His leadership brings to the kingdom a wealth of competence and exemplary service.
Chap is happily married to Tia M. Woods and they have three children, Derek, Faith, and Christian.
