May 27 – Proverbs 27

One on One

It’s May 27th, so let’s read Proverbs 27 and a find a verse we can chew on.

In a content driven culture it is critical to remember God’s plan for growth and change.   Look at verse 17: “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”

The internet has literally opened up a world of content to anyone with a phone or laptop. Christian culture is training gifted communicators to speak to the masses through large weekly meeting and occasional simulcasts. The current COVIG-19 outbreak has positioned people to stay at home and receive their ‘discipleship’ through electronic portals. The Body of Christ is more educated than ever, yet also more immature than ever.

This simple verse instructs us to move from just perusing content to building relationships. This passage reminds us to move from just belonging to a groups to making time for individual friendships with like minded people. These are the people who have permission to speak into our lives – and we into theirs. This is the place where ‘iron sharpens iron’.

Who is a potential ‘iron sharpens iron’ relationship for you in 2020?
