Men involved in evil are ‘outraged’ against anyone who chooses to turn away from evil.
Verse 19 from chapter 13: “A desire fulfilled is sweet to the soul, but to turn away from evil is an abomination to fools.”
So what exactly is an abomination? – It is something that causes outrage, disgust or hatred; an atrocity, a disgrace.
To the fool, turning away from evil is simply not an option. A fool considers turning away from evil to be a disgrace and would be personally outraged. There is no room for change for the stubborn fool. He is entrenched in his behavior and convictions. He believes that once you are engaged in evil – you must continue and you must approve of evil.
Do you know a fool? Stop, take a moment, and go read the next passage, verse 20, for a word of caution…..
